Nicely done, a lot of effort and useful information cogently arranged. The book by AC6V is a must for beginning and intermediate Hams wanting to pick up viable and practical: how-to-use repeaters and gain more insight into the system as a whole. Unlike times past, these days the plethora of written material via internet and books gives a serious knowledge boost to the would be student. A knowledge seeker can go step by step with infused-experience by working the radios in practice and follow up with a bit of reading, that way - one can get up to speed much faster. Similar to how pilots train in learning to fly airplanes. They have ground school, then fly the airplane and more ground school and so on. I think Ham Radio can be like this too. The problem as we all know is what book, informational or website to choose. It helps a lot to know exactly what you want to achieve first. That all said above, and the answer is easy, FM 101x Using FM Repeaters is a wrap up of all mentioned information in a readable book. If I had criticism, it would be to see this book be published by more a high end publishing house. Then again, it would be a much more expensive publication should that occur. Very good introduction to Ham radio! Well worth the read!
So many HAM studyguides coach you with regard to rules, tests, bandplans or xxx.
You see very little written about how to use this "appliance" you just placed in your home/auto or hand.
This guide will lessen your anxiety about being a noob amoungst the old timers on a repeater.
If you read this book AND listen to your local repeaters awhile, you will hop right in with confidence.

Good introduction to repeaters. Not too technical, but enough to provide background. If you're thinking of setting up a system or a new Ham buying your first HT this is a great read.
Overall I found this to be a great reference for a new ham or those just wanting to brush up on the repeater system. Some of the material needs updating - links don’t work, etc., and there are some formatting issues that caused confusion until I worked them out.
This is an excellent reference to the world of VHF amateur radio operation. I recently got a technician license and a handheld radio for the two-meter band. After reading through this book in about a week, I feel like I have knowledge that would have taken me 6-12 months to learn on my own. This book helped me successfully operate on simplex and repeaters.
My criticism of this book is about its poor copy editing. I didn't spot any spelling errors or ambiguous phrases, but there are lots of run-on sentences. Some information is repeated two or three times, although the book's introduction suggests that this is necessary to allow the book to be a handy reference rather than just a book to read cover-to-cover.
Please note that this book describes radio operations that require a license for the amateur radio service from the FCC.
Overall, the information provided in this book is accurate, helpful, and practical. Newcomers to amateur radio that want to operate with a two-way FM radio will be able to get a fast start by reading this book.
